We have researched on breath-sensing system by using infrared absorption spectroscopy with CRD (cavity ring-down) to develop compact health-checkup devices. In this article, we suggest novel pulse peak resonance (PPK)-CRD method. In case of using conventional CRD, it is not necessary to take in account propagation loss due to waveguide-loss-free space-cavity, however, it is relatively difficult in the integration with handy devices when using such that space-propagating gas-cell. For this reason, we consider to utilize waveguide-technology to overcome the above issue. One problem might be the propagation loss as waveguide was inaptitude for detecting breath-content with small fraction of ppm-order gas. To sidestep the degradation of sensitivity due to the propagation loss, we propose novel PPK-CRD which makes it possible to measure ppm-order’s breath-content with waveguide type cavity having a certain propagation loss. As a result of simulation in case of using the PPK-CRD, sufficient improvement in the performance of detecting, which results in ppm-order measurement with only 1cm2 integrated waveguide gas-cell when its loss is below 0.05dB/cm. |
