WDM signal transmission in thin-film waveguide for intra-board optical interconnection

(in English) We have proposed and investigated WDM optical interconnection using a thin-film optical waveguide for future intra-board chip-to-chip interconnection. Focusing grating couplers and distributed Bragg reflectors are integrated in a thin-film waveguide. Optoelectronic interposers integrating vertical cavity surface emitting lasers and photo detectors are mounted with LSI chips onto the waveguide. The add/drop function and signal transmission by single channel has been reported so far. This time, two-channel WDM optical waveguide was fabricated. Insertion loss of each channel was 17dB, and cross talk noise was –11dB. WDM parallel signal transmission of 1.0Gbit/s was demonstrated with fabricated add/drop multiplexers.
