Cooperation with Access Points and Stations for Efficient share of Wireless LANs Resources

(in English) The selection of an appropriate Access Point (AP) among available APs becomes a significant issue for each station (STA) according to the spread of wireless LANs. The issue of concern is how to effectively use those multiple APs; namely, which STA should be accommodated by with AP. In the existing architecture, each STA autonomously selects its AP based upon the received signal strength which can however course the concentration of STAs in specific APs, and thus degrade fairness property in achievable throughput of each AP. We have already proposed some cooperative manner of APs and STAs in order to attain an efficient and fair share of resources, and developed the prototype system. In the present paper, we further investigate two cooperative resource management schemes; in the both schemes, each of APs broadcasts the information on the number of active STAs in an interval of fixed time. We here specially focused on how APs and STAs should be cooperate in order to fulfill the effective resource sharing, and show proposed shemes successfully leads to efficient and fair share of wireless resources.
