The authors proposed customer-side traffic control technique for advanced and flexible traffic control, which is applicable to large-scale networks, taking account of individual user environment and information. In this study, we propose a new adaptive rate control mechanism for customer-side traffic control technique. First, the difference between customer-side traffic control technique and conventional traffic control technique is discussed and requirements for rate control mechanism of customer-side traffic control technique are defined. Then, we propose a token-bucked-based mechanism for customer-side traffic control technique that dynamically adapts token rate according to network condition.
