(in English) Recently the support of carrier class Ethernet services has become important, Ethernet OAM (Operation, Administration and Maintenance) and point-to-point linear protection switching mechanism has been standardized by ITU-T. Therefore reliable Ethernet services can be provided by these standards. From the viewpoint of the metro area service, a ring topology is suitable because of the multi-point connectivity and the study of ring protection switching mechanism has been started in ITU-T. This paper proposes a multi-ring protection switching mechanism using Ethernet OAM.
