A new gain measurement of the reference antenna in the tissue equivalent liquid based on the Fresnel approximation

(in English) One of calibration techniques for a SAR probe used in the standard SAR measurement is based on the Friis transmission formula. However, the electromagnetic wave is significantly attenuated in the tissue equivalent liquid so that the measurement in the far-field region of the antennas is quite difficult. To overcome the difficulty, the authors extended the Friis transmission formula so as to be valid in the Fresnel region of the antennas. In this report, we clarify that the far-field gain can be estimated by use of only measured data in the Fresnel region.
A target function for the curve fitting is Fresnel region gain which converges with the far-field gain in the far-field region. And, the extended gain can easily replace the formula for the electric field intensity radiated by the antenna in the far-field region as that in the Fresnel region.
