Objects are perceived to fade and disappear within a few seconds under certain conditions when a small object surrounded by a moving texture is presented in human peripheral vision. This phenomenon is called perceptual filling-in or fading. Investigation of filling-in properties is important to understand visual information capture and processing. Previous studies have adopted filling-in time to evaluate the facilitation of filling-in. Time to filling-in tends to be prolonged when subject’s fixation is not complete. Monitoring subject’s fixation while filling-in time is measured is important, however, there is no report measuring filling-in time with monitoring fixation condition. From this viewpoint, we measured time to filling-in for dynamic textures, with monitoring subject’s eye movements. As the result, time to filling-in weekly correlated with the amount of eye movement. |
