Multi-Functional All-Optical Tunable Delay Line with Wavelength Converter

(in English) Optical buffers are indispensable subsystems for implementing an optical packet router. Recently tunable optical delay lines based on slow light in an optical fiber have been actively studied for the application to optical buffers. The combination of tunable delay lines and wavelength converters is highly effective to the contention resolution. We have recently proposed an all-optical tunable delay line based on soliton self-frequency shift in an optical fiber. In this paper, we propose an all-optical tunable delay line with wavelength conversion based on soliton self-frequency shift and filtering supercontinuum spectrum. We conduct a proof-of-principle experiment to confirm the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
