In planning of total knee arthoplasty (TKA), it is desired to acquire the three dimensional information of knee joint in standing position and to this end the 2D/3D registration combining a CT image and bi-plane X-ray images is a promising approach. In this paper we assume that the bi-plane images are taken through sequential acquisition with a one-directional imaging system and investigate its feasibility. We also propose to put several fiducial markers on the skin surface of knee and use them to obtain an initial guess for knee position parameters. From the volunteer experiment, it was confirmed that this technique works well and that the sequential acquisition can still yield acceptable registration results. |
