The Experiments of Wearable GPS Antenna in Syowa Station and Rundvagshetta, Antarctica

(in English) As an additional study subject with the 46th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), positioning experiments with a wearable GPS antenna were carried out in Antarctica. In the experiments, the wearable GPS antenna was attached to different parts of a human body. It was attached either up to the head (hat) or on the back (clothes). We conducted the positioning experiments from January through February, 2006 at both Syowa Station and Rundvagshetta of Antarctica. Our experiment results show that signals from GPS satellites were received successfully and positioning was proceeded correctly. In this report, we first describe the wearable GPS antenna and the experiment system. Then, the experiments and results are illustrated in detail. Finally, a short conclusion is given.
