Impact of Power Control and Access Control on Area Spectral Efficiency in Radio System with Shared Band

(in English) In recent years, a cognitive radio system in which the frequency bands are shared by more than one wireless systems has attracted much attention. It is thought necessary to figure out the spectral efficiency of the cognitive radio system. In this paper, asuuming the simple cognitive radio system in which the frequency bands are shared by two wireless LAN systems for the realistic example of the cognitive radio system, the spectral efficiency is evaluated through focusing on the trade-off between the two systems. For sharing the same frequency bands, it is thought that one system reduce the transmit power through power control or stop the transmission through access control so as to avoid the interference to other systems by using the information such as the path loss. However, the reduction of transmit power or transmission opportunity might decrease the spectral efficiency of the own system.
In this context, the effect of power control or access control on the trade-off is studied.
