This paper proposes a lifetime estimation model based on our experiment result and study a data transmission scheme in consideration for constraints of residual battery capacity and transmission time. Machine-to-machine communications under ubiquitous environments attract a great deal of attention and it is expected that communication demands from small sensors and/or small terminals with communication modules will increase. Such terminals are so small that they need to run with small-capacity batteries. Especially, in data transmission, it is assumed to be drawn considerable a large current relative to its battery capacity. Therefore, lifetime of a battery can be improved by controlling data transmission. The authors already confirmed that an advantage of pulse-discharge by the experiment using many lithium-ion batteries of small-capacity and proposed the data transmission scheme taking advantage of pulse-discharge. This paper also discusses procedures to implement the proposed transmission scheme. |
