Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is gathering wide attention.
In this technology, medium access control (MAC) protocol is a key to achieve high throughput.
Conventionally, CSMA/CA with RTS/CTS scheme has been known as a MAC protocol enabling nodes in MANET to avoid interferences from surrounding nodes.
However, although it is simple, it is not very efficient.
In this paper, aiming at the improvement of the efficiency in terms of the throughput, we propose a new adaptive carrier sensing method for MANET.
In the proposed method, the threshold of the carrier sensing is adaptively adjusted based on the SNIR estimation using CTS packets.
As a result, it will be clarified that the proposed method improves the throughput and increase the number of simultaneous transmission nodes through computer simulations. |
