When an acoustic impedance of in vivo bone is measured through a soft tissue by ultrasonic interference method, the attenuation of the soft tissue becomes a factor of an error. We developed a method to compensate attenuation with measurements of the thickness of soft tissue, the speed of sound and the attenuation coefficient of the soft tissue. We actually measured the acoustic impedances of in vivo bone with this compensation method. |
