The bridge and arc discharge phenomena at the contact breaking generate the heat. The generated heat is related to lifetime of the contact. In order to clarify the temperature rise of the contacts, the relationship between the heat generation and thermal diffusivity is investigated in this study by experiment and numerical modeling. Firstly, the relationship between electrical conditions of open voltage and current and temperature rise is discussed. As the contact current increases, the temperature rise becomes larger. Secondly, the effect of thermal diffusivity on temperature rise is discussed. The temperature rise of contact is maximum in the case of AgPd60 which has minimum thermal diffusivity. It is demonstrated that the effects of electrical conditions and the thermal constants on temperature rise of contacts can be separated by the proposed experiment and calculation. |
