Estimation of Radio-frequency Radiating Source Power from Unintentional Devices such as Information Technology Equipment:2nd report

(in English) EMF and its health effects is one of modern topics. Not only RTE intentional equipment but also ITE unintentional equipment is requesting the exposure assessment. For high frequency band, we can declare that comply with ICNIRP basic restriction, as RF emitting power is less than 20mW. EN50371 was published and acting in Europe. Similar standard is now proposed as New Work Item Proposal in IEC TC106. Assessment protocol for emitting power for unintentional equipment such as ITE is not fixed yet. This paper reports our study and finding on this topic.
Measurement around the ITE is not easy way. One approach is estimating the emitting power based on the field strength data or limit value in far field in the meaning of EMI requirement. This first approach was confirmed that cumulative RF power calculated by far field data is equal to emitting source power of unintentional apparatus. Also as second approach, near filed strength both electric field and magnetic field was estimated based on the EMI requirement, and find these field strength is very low, such as 1% of reference level of ICNIRP. Both approaches are useful protocol for manufacturer of ITE. One point left as pending, emission up and down wards from apparatus that not measured in EMI requirement though.
