Characterizing Source Distribution in Web Server User Community

(in English) The Internet has become an ideal environment for worldwide communication, in which web server is a powerful tool to provide information and services. Nowadays, various types of services are accessible via millions of web servers. Each web server provides a specific service in a specific area, so it normally targets a certain user community, albeit territorial or interest-based. User community can be displayed by source IP distribution in address space. We use 3-dimensional maps which illustrate location and access frequency of all requests to certain web servers and prove that each kind of web server has a typical IP map. This IP map is quite stable and can be processed using traditional image processing technology. Analysis of IP maps is useful in monitoring and management of server resources, online study of user community, attack detection, traffic control, etc.
