Evaluation of joint multiple resource allocation method for all-IP-based networks

(in English) All-IP networks (including NGN), in which all services will be supported with IP technology, need to provide computational capacity of servers distributed geographically and communication links between the server and their client for each service. We regarded this as a joint resource allocation model in which a system selects one resource set from among multiple resource sets of servers and bandwidths whenever a request is made. We also proposed the following approaches for efficient joint resource allocation methods: First approach (A) is to select the resource set with the least available amount of resource, and second approach (B) is to delay the start of resource allocation rather than rejecting the request.
This paper first proposes the detailed resource allocation algorithm on condition of approach B. Next, it is demonstrated by simulation evaluations that approach B can decrease the request loss probability more greatly than approach A, and also reduce the total amount of the resources required by up to 25%, compared the conventional method.
