Local and Global Two Step Image Inpainting

Digital inpainting is a technique of modifying missing or damaged portions of an image in an undetectable way for an observer who first looks at it. For the inpainting of a still digital image, Beltramio et al. proposed a method using a partial differential equation. Telea proposed a method that decides a pixel value one by one inside the whole unknown region. The former is usually very slow and the latter is some less accurate. In this paper, we aim to develop a method that is more accurate and faster, and propose a two step image inpainting algorithm that is composed of one point inpainting and smoothing by means of diffusion. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method, we perform the experiment using various images. |
