Path Engineering for Power Consumption

(in English) Performance adjustment of router according to traffic volume is one of useful solution to save electric power of router. The adjustment is achived by technology named Dynamic Voltage Scaling, which is implemented in processor for personal computer and embedded system. The power per traffic volume increases as traffic volume increase. So concentration of traffic at a certain router make power efficiency of network wrong.
So It is important to control traffic to save power of all routers in a network.

In this paper, we propose method for path engineering for saving power.
It consists of route calculation algorithms saving power of all routers and traffic transmission technique which is enable to do traffic engineering. Two types of routing algorithms are proposed. One recognizes processed traffic volume at routers as cost metric and find cost minimized route. The
other recognized power of routers as cost metric and find cost minimized route.

Simulation result shows that proposed method reduces power of router in a whole network comparing to the case in which routing protocol such as OSPF controls the route of traffic flows.
