| (in English) | So far we proposed a face detector based on the combination of Wavelet transform and probabilistic pattern matching, applied it to facial detecting problems on color images, and evaluated its performance. Although skin color information was used for improving the detection rate in our method, the performance of the face detector was not evaluated under the condition in which no color information was available. In this report we consider the face detector to monochrome images which include upright faces with a fixed scale and investigate the performance in detail. We improve the face detector for increasing the detection rate. As a result, we show that the improved face detector achieves almost the same performance as the one by the Viola-Jones method which is well known as one of the standard methods for face detectors. | |
