An implementation of a connection switching function for dynamic routing in PeerCast

(in English) Multicast has been used by multimedia applications, such that video on demand and streaming systems, for reducing network traffic and load of contents servers. Recently, application level multicast(ALM) becomes a better solution for this purpose compared with IP multicast due to user side controllability and adaptability. PeerCast is a well known implementation of a stream oriented ALM system. However the current version of PeerCast has drawbacks on optimality of the routing algorithm which causes large average transmission delay. In this research we introduce a method on the connection switching function for dynamic routing without loss of data for PeerCast. A preliminarily implementation and results of evaluation on reduction on
transmission delay is also shown.
