In order to solve the trade-offs between the properties of long-haul transmission fibers, we investigated about the possibility of improving the optical properties by utilizing a Restrict Mode Excitation method to the fiber design. The Aeff of the latter fiber of the MDF which is a kind of dispersion management fibers (N-MDF) was successfully enlarged from conventional value of 32 um2 to 53 um2. Furthermore, the dispersion slope of NZ-DSF for submarine (Low dispersion slope type NZ-DSF for submarine) was successfully decreased from the conventional 0.05 ps/nm2/km to -0.04 ps/nm2/km. Single mode transmission was confirmed by the pulse propagation experimentation. |
