Evaluation using GTEM cell of interference caused by OFDM-UWB to wireless LAN

(in English) In this study, an electromagnetic interference of MB-OFDM UWB to wireless LAN IEEE802.11a was evaluated by using a GTEM cell. Two kinds of interference of Band#3 (Out-of-band radiation for 11a) in a band plan of MB-OFDM UWB and Band#4 (In-band radiation for 11a) were evaluated. As a result, the MB-OFDM UWB did not affect wireless LAN IEEE802.11a in a case of the out of band radiation. On the other hand, the MB-OFDM UWB affected the wireless LAN even when UWB radiation was lower than a receiver noise. In addition, separation distances that are converted from interference signal levels were evaluated. As a result, when the separation distance approached to about 3 m, carrier to noise ratio (C/N) of about 6 dB was necessary to obtain an equal throughput in a case of non-interference. The separation distances were calculated as about 1 m when the signals of the wireless LAN were near the minimum receiving power.
