The Earth Clouds, Aerosols and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) mission has been jointly proposed by European Space Agency (ESA) and Japanese agencies, or Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). The Cloud Profiling Radar (CPR), one of payloads of the EarthCARE, has Doppler measurement ability to provide the vertical velocity of cloud/precipitation particles as well as the vertical profile of cloud structure along satellite track. This paper describes the overview of the mission, specification and concept design of EarthCARE/CPR. |
