Influence of Echoes to Primary Sound Integration and Segregation Factors in Human Audition
Yuya Futamura, Hitomi Sato, Jie Huang (Univ. of Aizu) SP2007-15
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In auditory scene analysis,
there was intensive research on the integration and segregation cues for self sound organization. Primary cues including harmoniousness, onset-offset synchronicity, common amplitude/frequency modulation and continuity of sound components are said important for bottom-up sound organization in the human auditory systems. In this paper, we present the influence of echoes and reverberations on the interaction between different primary cues for sound organization. Psychological experiments were conducted using multi-component sounds convoluted with the impulse response calculated using the image source method, which simulates the room echoes. Three experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of echoes on harmonic structure, frequency and amplitude modulation.
