Binaural signals include interaural differences such as interaural level difference (ILD) and interaural time difference (ITD). A statistical method using the interaural difference has been proposed and it was verified to give a great performance in echoic environments. In this method, the Gaussian mixture models (GMM) are previously generated using the characteristics which are extracted from an each binaural signal as parameters. When the test binaural signal is input, one model is determined
by selecting the one which gives the maximum likelihood. However, this method was not examined in noisy and acoustically complex situations with reverberation and reflections. In this report, we chose a car as a noisy and acoustically complex environment, and experiments of estimating a sound source direction were conducted. Binaural room impulse responses between two manikins were measured in a car. ILD cepstrum and ITD were used as parameters. The results show that 68.6 % correct rate with binaural SNR --5 dB using driving noise in the case of ILD cepstrum method. It was clarified that ILD cepstrum method was efficient even in a noisy situation. |
