An automatic measurement system of object related transfer function for small object

(in English) Frequency domain binaural model (FDBM) has been proposed as a computer
model of the human auditory system based on head related transfer
function (HRTF).
The model can estimate direction of sound sources using
the sound diffraction of head and torso.
An object related transfer function (ORTF) can be defined similar to HRTF
since arbitrary object may produce the diffraction like a head.
In former research, a sound source localization method was
introduced with ORTF based on the same algorithm of FDBM.
In order to implement the method,
the database of ORTF is required and it means
the necessity of the efficient and accurate measurement system of ORTF.
Although there are many measurement systems for HRTF,
all of them are designed for human beings so that the size of system may
4m x 4m x 4m or even more.
On the contrary, there are many applications utilizing smaller object
such as a security camera, so that an efficient measurement system of
ORTF for small object is necessary.
In this paper, a newly developed automatic ORTF measurement system
for small object is introduced and the measurement performance is
discussed.
