A Performance Evaluation Method for Open Source Databases in Mission Critical Systems

(in English) In recent years, there has been a wide-range of discussions overapplication of open source software to operation support systems. Given the significant performance improvements and continuous releases of open source software, efficient and effective product evaluation methodology must be developed. Since database systems are increasingly important in the Next Generation Networks (NGN), this paper focuses on establishing methodology to evaluate system availability, which is essential in mission critical systems. As a first step toward designing such methodology, we propose a framework to effectively estimate switching-over time of a redundancy model, applying shared-disk architecture in a High Availability (HA) cluster.
