TCP Rate Control Scheme for Adapting Traffic Policing
Takuya Tojo, Daisuke Ikegami, Toshiaki Tsuchiya (NTT) CQ2007-27
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The bandwidth broker (BB) architecture allows per-flow guaranteed services in a differentiated services (DiffServ) network. Resource management, admission control, and policy decision are performed by the BB. In several implementations of the BB architecture, traffic policing at the edge routers enforces that each flow does not use more than its allocated bandwidth. The token bucket model is commonly used as a traffic policer. However, many studies show that the token bucket policing cause the average TCP throughput to be lower than the allocated bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a TCP rate control scheme for adapting traffic policing.
