We demonstrate the theoretical analysis of Brillouin gain spectra (BGS) in high-delta fibers with F-doped inner claddings under different fiber parameters such as the radii (core, a1; inner cladding, a2) and the dopant concentrations (core, w1; inner cladding, w2). We found that it is possible to move a high-order acoustic mode (L02 or L03) into the inner-cladding region while the fundamental mode L01 is maintained in the core region. Furthermore, we numerically evaluate the different acoustic modes’ resonance frequencies and their gain differences as functions of fiber parameters for the two different possibilities: using L01 and L02 modes or using L01 and L03 modes for the purpose of Brillouin-scattering-based discriminative sensing of strain and temperature. The latter possible application is estimated more suitable because the L03 mode has a comparable gain coefficient in contrast to L01 mode and the resonance frequency of L03 mode is ~6 times more sensitive to the change of fiber’s parameters than that of the L01 mode. |
