Performance evaluation of pre-FFT type MMSE adaptive array antenna using iterative weight update for OFDM transmission with asynchronous intra-system interference

(in English) Recently, the authors have proposed a pre-FFT type MMSE adaptive array antenna (AAA) for an OFDM packet transmission system to suppress asynchronous inter-system interference. It controls the antenna weight so as to minimize the mean square error between its outputs of two periods in which the same waveform should be received, and it iterates the weight updating process in an OFDM symbol so as to converge the weight rapidly. It has already been shown that the proposed AAA is effective to suppress asynchronous inter-system interference. On the other hand, if intra-system interference arrives, it is expected that the performance of the proposed AAA is sensitive to its arrival timing. Therefore, in this paper, the performance of the proposed AAA with intra-system interference is evaluated through computer simulations assuming an exponentially decaying $12$-path LOS fading channel, a $3$-element circular array, and the IEEE 802.11a data packet transmission. Simulation results reveal that the average packet error rate of the proposed AAA with an intra-system interference signal is better than or comparable to that with an inter-system interference signal when the time lag between the interference arrival and the OFDM symbol timing of the desired signal is longer than about $13\,\%$ of the OFDM symbol duration.
