A study on the complex permittivity evaluation of the plastic resin substrates in the millimeter-wave region.

(in English) Complex permittivties of dielectric substrates are evaluated with the Whispering-Gallery mode resonator method in a millimeter wave frequency band. For low permittivity material measurement, the resonant fields do not concentrate so match into the dielectric disk under test that the conventional techniques, such as Approximated Variables Separated Method or Mode Matching Method, to calculate the resonance characteristics of the WG modes, are available. Therefore Effective Permittivity Method which can be calculated with a small error can be applied to the analysis of such a case. This report shows the results of the measurement of low permittivity materials in the frequency band of 50-100GHz and compared the evaluated values with the Effective Permittivity Method and Mode Matching Method.
