Dependency of MIMO Channel Capacity on Power Azimuth Spectrum for Monopole Array Antenna Mounted on Card-Type Terminal

(in English) In this report, we investigate the dependency of the MIMO channel capacity on the power azimuth spectrum for the monopole array antennas mounted on the card-type terminal considering the radiation patterns and power azimuth spectrum based on the calculations as a feasible study on the antennas for mobile terminals toward the application of MIMO transmissions into a beyond-3G system. Evaluation criteria include the received power, spatial correlation coefficient between antennas, eigenvalue of the correlation matrix, and MIMO channel capacity. We compare the performance of monopole antennas configurations mounted on the card-type terminal and laptop PC modeled by the finite ground plane with an element spacing of less than 0.5  with that for the dipole antenna configurations considering that the antennas must be equipped with the size limitation in the mobile terminal. In addition, we clarify the altered characteristics according to the number of clusters, angle spread, angle between clusters, and power ratio of clusters for the power azimuth spectrum under the spatial channel model of the multiple cluster model with respect to monopole antennas mounted on the card-type terminal.
