A Consideration on a Middleware Layer for Knowledge-based Information Systems

(in English) This paper discusses roles of a middleware layer and implementation policies of each middleware on knowledge-based information systems development. Knowledge-based information systems are information systems to support intelligent works using expert knowledge. We propose three layered software architecture which consists of development environment layer, middleware layer and application layer, to increase productiviity and maintenability of them. This paper discusses roles, types and integration policies of middleware. Moreover, we port or implement three kinds of middleware that is knowledgeware, data model management, and GUI library along these policies, and examine the effectiveness of our policy through development of automated design system of fire alarm by using these middleware.
