A study on reliable peer-to-peer streaming tree construction system using peer's duration time

(in English) ALM(Application Layer Multicast) has been receiving attentions as a promising technology to enable large scale multicast video streaming service, particularly in that it requires less modification of existing network infrastructure by using peer-to-peer multicast , compared with IP multicast. One of the challenging issues to realize ALM is to construct reliable tree reliable and maintain communication quality against link breaks incurred with sudden leaves of relaying user nodes. To cope with this issue, we propose a novel ALM tree construction scheme, which estimates session duration time of newly joining nodes and connects the node estimated to have more long duration time at the closer position to the streaming server. The proposed scheme records history of past session duration time of every node in the tree and it is exploited for duration time estimation of newly joining nodes. Performance evaluation by simulation shows that the proposed scheme reduces the number of nodes suffered with link breaks when sudden leave of a node occurs, compared with a conventional scheme that does not consider estimation of session duration time.
