Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel configuration for wireless
transmission has been attracting attention widely since it can provide
larger capacity and stronger robustness against fading. However; using
multiple antennas at the subscriber has the drawback that it makes the
subscriber unit larger and more expensive. Because of that Multiple-input
single-output (MISO) is more preferable in downlink CDMA system. Taking
advantage of the multiple antennas at the base station combined with space
time block codes (STBCs), we can attain space diversity. Quasi
orthogonal space-time block code (QO-STBC) is a good choice because it could
be used with complex signals and a simple decoder.
MISO CDMA in selective fading channels suffers from multiple access
interference (MAI). So, we propose a new downlink MISO CDMA system over frequency-
selective fading channel, which has good performance even when the system is overloaded (when the number of users is larger than processing gain).
Combining grouping of users with QO-STBC and using the proper spreading
sequences assigning, we can realize a downlink MISO CDMA
system with overload factor 2 under frequency-selective fading |
