Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The crying voices of babies in a painful state after injection are analyzed by computer and some characteristics are obtained in their frequency distribution. The shapes of the power spectra of crying voices in pain are different from those in other situations such as in hunger and sleepiness, but are those in discomfort. We can say that the situation of pain caused by injection is almost the same as that in discomfort for babies. The difference between the pain and the discomfort appears in the pattern of the sound spectrogram. When the waveforms of the crying voice are analyzed, some typical waveforms appear in the painful state by injection, which seldom appear in other states. That cause estimation for pain can be considered to be realized from the frequency and the waveform analyses of crying voice.
