The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique has been recently received considerable attention in the fields of wireless communications due to its efficient usage of frequency bandwidth and robustness against the multi-path fading. However, the bit error rate (BER) performance of OFDM technique would be degraded severely due to inter carrier interference (ICI) and inter symbol interference (ISI) when the delay spread is larger than the predetermined guard interval (GI). We have proposed a demodulation method for OFDM system, which can achieve the better BER performance under the multi-path fading environments even when the delay spread is larger than the GI. The feature of proposed method is to reconstruct the delay signals exceeding the GI and compensate them by using the estimated time domain channel impulse response and the temporary decision data information. In this paper, we apply Forward Error Correction (FEC) technique to our proposed method, and demonstrate its transmission performance under various mobile conditions in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method as comparing with the conventional method. |
