Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is one of modalities for diagnosis diseases. Recently, it has been expanded diagnostic subject for MR imaging. As one of the applied examples, there is diagnostics for fetal anomaly. However, basic restriction in the contemporary safety standards for MRI system has not specifically established for the fetus. On the other hand, several studies reported the results that thermal effect for the fetus caused growth delay and developmental defect. According to ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) statement, it has been suggested that adverse effects on embryonic or fetal development will be avoided if the temperature of the fetus does not exceed 38oC, and the body temperature of pregnant woman does not rise by more than 0.5 oC. In this study, the temperature distribution in the fetus is calculated by use of the numerical calculation model assuming the actual MR imaging and we compared these results with the threshold dose listed in a literature.
