A Influence of Contact Load-Distribution between Brush and Commutator

(in English) A larger commutation spark occurred when the offset load existed on the rear end of the brush than when the offset load existed on the front end of the brush. The mechanism of the above phenomenon is as follows: Contact load distribution affects the distribution of contact resistance between the brush and commutator segments. The contact resistance of the brush rear end decreases when the offset load exists on the rear end of the brush. And electrical current flowing between the brush and the departing commutator segment become higher. Then, the insufficient commutation that causes a large spark was accelerated.
