A study for long life of Au,Ni-plated slipring for electric power supply

(in English) In this study, Au-Ni plated slip-ring and Ag-Pd brush system is tested for the purpose of long lifetime with
reliability by determining key factors to elongate the lifetime. From previous three tests, it was considered that applied
lubricant amount and contact surface temperature might be key factors of lifetime. In this test (test4), 2 different amounts of
lubricant are applied on slip-ring surface, and contact surface temperature is measured. As the result, variations of surface
temperature around the slip-ring lifetime, and the minimal quantity amount of lubricant were confirmed. In addition, about
8000 hours lifetime (equal to 200 million revolutions) lifetime was achieved. In spite of such long operation, Au, Ni plated
layer and lubricant remain on surface, which is confirmed by analysis by EPMA.
