Enclosure technique is widely used to suppress electromagnetic (EM) radiation from noise source and interference from electronic devices. As the aperture of the enclosure causes leakage of EM wave, desired shielding effectiveness may not be satisfied. In this paper, EM radiation from aperture of the enclosure is investigated by using the enclosure model which has a printed circuit board (PCB) as internal EM noise source. Frequency responses of magnetic-near and far-electric fields, and shielding effectiveness (SE) are discussed in order to clarify effect of placement of PCB on EM radiation. When the signal line is placed in opposite direction of the aperture, magnetic-near field, and far-electric fields for horizontal and vertical components are the smallest in that of other placement. As the distance between PCB and aperture becomes longer, shielding effectiveness increases. However, when distance is larger than certain distance which is depending on direction of PCB, EM radiation increases. |
