Electric field tweezers system is an effective tool to investigate the mechanical properties of soft condensed materials in a non-contact manner. Electric field is locally applied by a thin metal needle to the sample surface, which deforms suffering from the Maxwell stress induced by the inhomogeneous distribution of the electric field energy. We can measure the surface tension and the viscosity of the material from the absolute value of the curvature of the deformed surface and the time constant of the deformation, respectively. In this study, we applied the system for the resonance cavity and observed the resonance vibration of the surface deformation: The accuracy of the surface tension and viscosity was remarkably improved. |
