On a Evaluation of Ad Hoc Networks with Smart Antennas by Experiment

(in English) Recently, several directional MAC protocols have been proposed for wireless ad hoc networks. The directional MAC protocols have various potentials to improve the network performance. However, directional MAC protocols also have problems which are not caused when using omni-directional antennas. In this paper, we focus on problems in directional MAC protocols and summarize them. And we conduct experiment to evaluate one of them outside using MAC protocol testbed. The experiment results show that one of directional MAC protocol problems appear in real environment.
