The paper is devoted to study the influence of insulation baffle of iron splitter plates on arc behavior in low voltage electric apparatus. Firstly, to one commercial low voltage circuit breaker, experiments were carried out to analyze the influence of the insulation baffle of the splitter plates on the interruption performance. Then, the 2-D magneto-hydrodynamic model of arc was developed to understand the iron vapor on arc behavior theoretically. It demonstrates that the interruption performance was improved effectively with the existence of the insulation baffle, because the insulation baffle can restrain the disadvantageous influence of iron vapor on arc motion. |
