Development and Evaluation of an IP Network Route Monitoring System

(in English) We developed an IP network route monitoring system that does not need to place monitoring device at customer's sites. This system monitors round trip time of each packet's traveling route by using the remote login function and ping command supported by ordinary network equipments. This system enables quick degradation detection by comparing the statistics value calculated from the past observation results with the current result. We adopt this system to actual user network, and evaluated this system's degradation detection method. As a result, the method is effective for degradation detection. This paper describes the outline of this system, evaluation result, and future subjects.
