This paper describes an estimation method of diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide(DLco) and DLco per alveolar gas volume(DLco/VA) from 3D chest X-ray CT images. This method first divides the lung area into four areas consisting of right upper, right lower, left upper and left lower lung areas, and calculates a regression plane from the percentage of low attenuation area in each lung area and patients’ age. Then estimation equation is formulated using coefficients of regression plane obtained. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can estimate DLco and DLco/VA more accurate (mean absolute error is improved by 0.26 [mL/min/mmHg]for DLco and 0.10 [mL/min/mmHg/L] for DLco/VA) than the method using only percentage of low attenuationarea in the whole lung area. |
