It is important to detect a partial discharge phenomenon in a gas insulated switchgear (GIS) for diagnosting the insulation performance.
As a technique for the diagnosis of the partial discharge, the measurement of electromagnetic waves radiated to the outside of the GIS has already been proposed.In a previous report, a coaxial-waveguide converter is designed as a sensor for detecting the radiated waves
considering the transmission line theory.
Though the frequency range of the partial discharge is up to 3GHz,
that of the designed sensor is limited from 1.4GHz to 2.7GHz.
In order to receive wider band signals, a sensor with a bow tie shaped probe in the waveguide is proposed in this report.
The basic structure is designed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method.The designed and constructed sensors are applied to a GIS simulator.The sensor of the bow tie probe can be used in the frequency range 0.6GHz to 3GHz. |
