[Invited Talk] Network-wide Internet Traffic Measurement/Analysis and Anomolous Traffic Detection

(in English) In this paper, we survey current status on Internet traffic measurement,
especailly on spatial characteristics of Internet traffic. Historically,
traffic measurement and modeling has mainly focused on temporal
characteristics where the objective of the modeling is bandwdith
provisioning or buffer size provisioning at network node or link.
However, as for the objective for network-wide traffic engineering,
spatial characteristics of Internet traffic, one of representative
characteristics is traffic matrix, are important as well, and
recently atract much attention in Internet mesurement community.
Those characteristics is also useful for the detection and diagnosis of
anomlous event in the Internet, such as DDoS or network failure.
We introduce some recent research progress in this area, including our
results on traffic anomaly detection using traffic matrix, and
inter-hosts communication structures.
